Hey Everyone!

From the day I met Krista for her hair and makeup trial back in May 2012 she was so sweet, fun, and easy going. Krista brought with her a picture of the makeup look that she thought she liked but was not sure  exactly she wanted.

We sat down and talked a little bit about what style her wedding was, the location , what her dress and what the bridesmaid’s dresses looked liked to get an idea of some different looks that I could help her achieve the best look for her wedding.  I’ll never forget that after  we achieved  the makeup look  she was looking for,we were going to move on to her hair but she said, “My fiancee is waiting for me near by  so lets not do the hair trial… I trust that you’ll make it gorgeous on the day of.” Off she went Happy and loving her makeup! =)

Krista and Mike got married on August 25th 2012 in Santa Barbara, CA. My lovely hair assistant Monica joined me for the day of to beautify the hair of the 6 bridesmaids who’s makeup I would be doing as well! When we arrived on location  in Santa Barbara we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the location was. It was at a beautiful house with amazing tall windows leading out  to the breathtaking backyard garden, which is every makeup artist’s dream- helping supply perfect lighting. With music playing, friends, family  and laughter all around are just a few of the million reasons why I love to get to know and share the biggest day of my bride’s lives with them.

How to achieve Krista Haas’ flawless wedding day look we created (pictures below):

You can use any natural color eye primer for the lids to make sure your eye shadow lasts a long time without creasing. Choose a gold light color all over the lid from lash line to the crease of the eye  (I used MAC’s pigment in Blonde’s Gold).

Using a few different shades of brown’s by MAC, we used (Tempting, Mulch,) I built depth and subtle deep colors focusing just on the outer corner of the eye softening it up in to the crease. I then used the color Soba by MAC to blend out any harsh lines.  Finally, to give it a bit more of a pop of color right by the upper and lower lash line I added a bit of color (embark)- a rich brown with a hue of burgundy color to it.

As a highlighter under the brow bone I used a matte color ( vanilla). We used some colors with hints of shimmer as we wanted to make sure that under the eyebrow was matte so that it did not look like shimmer all the way up. This also helps the brow pop a bit more in photographs.

For foundation I used Makeup Forever HD foundation through my airbrush machine. (This can be used with brush or fingers as well) and will look fabulous. This is great because it drys to a semi-matte finish so not very much powder is needed.

For powder we used a translucent powder by Laura Mercier just in the T-Zone area  to really make sure she did not get oily. We used a bronzer by Nars ( Laguna) right under her cheek bones (to find where make that silly fishy face we all love)  to contour her cheekbones . For blush, we used a  bit on the apples of the cheeks to give a slight flushing color.

As for mascara, we used Maybelline colossal mascara waterproof. We used a few coats to set the eyelashes giving them their natural thickness and length, before adding false eyelashes to enhance the look. Krista already had full colorful natural lips to begin with so I chose to use a color by Bobbi Brown called Blue Raspberry Creamy Lip color.  Color is best for enhancing your natural lip color a shade up to 3 shades darker depending on how many coats you put on to build the color. This is my go-to bride color. Every bride I put it on absolutely loves it and goes out and buys it for their everyday look.

As for her hair– we did soft waves pinning half up half down. The tool we used were a 1 1/2 ‘ curling iron, wrapping around the iron setting with good holding hair spray by Paul Mitchell.

Stay Gorgeous!
