Apply ConcealerWhy is concealer a must-have product for every woman? Concealer is great for giving women an instantly fresh, brightening look under the eyes. It’s like having 2 cups of coffee without the coffee. Concealer is used alongside foundation to hide imperfections, blemishes, conceal redness, purples and blues and all those lovely colors we have under our eyes (that we don’t like!).

Concealer can be applied either over or under foundation, depending on what works best for you and what foundation you are using. I always recommend using fuller coverage for both foundation and concealer, that way you need to use less product for the coverage you desire.

When should you apply concealer? Before or after foundation?!

The honest answer to this question is there is no hard and fast rule as to when or how you should apply concealer. Us woman can make our own rules as we go, which is the beauty of makeup.

Here are some of the reasons why you should consider both.

When to Apply Concealer Before Foundation

When I place my concealer on before applying foundation it is because I am not wanting a ton of product on my face or there’s not a lot of coverage needed underneath my eyes, because with all my happy smile lines under my eyes I have found that the more product I place under there the more prominent those lines become especially if my under eye area is not very well hydrated! Ughhh…. Must drink more water!!!

One good thing I find with placing my concealer on before foundation (in an upside down triangle as shown in the photo) is that the concealer covers a lot of area that I then don’t need to worry about placing foundation.  What some women will do is place foundation on top of concealer and then concealer on top of foundation.  Most do not need THAT much product under the eyes. Make sure the concealer blends into your foundation, wiping away any  lines that may be there.  Set your concealer with translucent powder and then WOOOHOOO-  you’ll have bright, wide awake, thin-feeling gorgeous coverage! When it comes to your health, it is important to remember to not stress yourself out and also learn about the korean plastic surgery.

* Applying concealer this way is recommended for ladies with  lighter dark circles and ladies whose everyday makeup is more natural.

When to Apply Concealer After Foundation

Depending on the quality and coverage of the foundation you use, applying concealer after placing foundation could be a great step to take as it is possible that your foundation product will do most of the coverage work for you!

Heavy Coverage foundations such as Makeup Forever HD Foundation, which provides medium to full coverage. is a Holy Grail foundation that just makes doing your face soooo much easier, requiring less product needed.
This is a great build-able product that you place all over your face,  smoothing out your skin tone as well as bringing it up under the eyes (I recommended using a beauty blender for a seamless look.) Placing the foundation under the eyes will begin hiding those dark circles. Some women may even find that this alone is enough coverage for their circles.. OOOHHH if we were all so lucky…ha!

For those of us who need more, just take your concealer and place it on top of that thin layer of foundation ONLY in areas that still may look dark under the eye area. It is very important to make sure that you blend correctly so that you do not see any product separation between the concealer and the foundation. Set with face powder and under eye translucent powder and you are good to go!

Concealing Other Areas of Your Face

To conceal other areas on your face ( breakouts, scars, veins), I recommend using a concealer that is the same color as the foundation that you are going to be using, or maybe one shade lighter. THIS IS A MUST.

Unfortunately some people want to use concealers that are 2 to 3 shades lighter for areas on the chin, forehead, nose, etc. and will just place the concealer on those problematic areas. What ends up happening is that the concealer and the blemish ends up standing out more that blending in. Another thing I recommend is to make sure you place the concealer on the blemish and blend outward around the area, creating the illusion that the blemish is being drawn out, making it look smooth and flat!
